Don’t Overthink the Election

How did you feel when you saw the news Trump won in 2024? Were you disappointed in America? I was. But back up a little. I can’t speak for everyone, but leading up to this election I got a little carried away politically. I never paid more attention to the news, to something beyond my control. Let me correct myself. Just hear me out.

Don’t fool yourself. No leader or system will satisfy you, that’s not where satisfaction comes from. They will make laws. In a country rooted in freedom these laws should not be made to control us, but sometimes they are, and so we can blame them for what we feel is lacking in us. However, there are freedoms that can never be taken away (hopefully). That is freedom of thought, freedom of being, existing, doing. That’s basically how we spend our daily lives right?

Abortion, gun control, etc.., are highly abstracted concepts that we argue point to our quality of freedom. “Concepts” like these arise from an overreliance on litigious structures in government. Legal structures should not be mistaken with reality, morality, right and wrong. They are there to point to what a perfect civilization acts like. The problem comes when we confuse them with reality. Because in a “perfect society” where every individual is enlightened there is no law, right and wrong are not written down because there is neither right or wrong. That is to say people’s actions would not arise from self-centeredness. What would be the point of laws? No governing structure is going to bring about this type of society. No system will create it.

All structures of this nature manifest themselves by a process of dysfunction, a process of believing that identification with a system will bring about real inner transformation. Capitalism, Socialism, yada yada whatever you want to think is the right one, are artificial ideals. That is to say they don’t contain the essence of what is needed to bring about real change in the world. They don’t inspire true self evolution of each individual. They are pointers to what a civilisation might look like when each individual is enlightened. Real change doesn’t come from voting, protesting, campaigning, etc.., all of that is rooted in confusion. It only aims to repackage the dysfunction under a new group of rules.

Real change only comes from us, us as in you, the individual. You must look inwardly. You must transform yourself. Self evolution is the only way to bring about real change. I don’t mean selfish self evolution, anything that strengthens your sense of self. It is harder to pin down in words what real self evolution is. Start simple. Start educating yourself. Start meditating. Start exploring. Start identifying what is your ego and what is actually you. Learn compassion, awareness, clarity, and openness. These are just words. They are what you become when you have created an inner transformation.

Don’t worry about what you don’t control.

Leave Trump alone.

Leave Britney alone.
